Mellow Monday.

There’s nothing nicer than being able to dismiss your 7 am alarm on a Monday morning, falling back to sleep then spending the rest of your day in a lazy haze. There’s also nothing quite like ‘happening’ upon net-a-porter and seeing that most of their newly added pieces seem to share the same mellow Monday mentality.

J.CREW

It’s been quite a while since J.Crew has made such a splash on the ‘what’s new’ section on net-a-porter, but what better way to make such a return than with this pale blue cotton pyjama set, perfected with a navy piping. Better yet, this comfy creation also comes in navy and is the perfect outfit to wear on your very own mellow Monday, mooching around the house. Sadly for me though, I’m not the type to sleep in pjs, and you’re more likely to catch me sleeping in just an oversized tee (or maybe a little less), but I can still appreciate a stylish sleeping uniform. I would mix things up a little by wearing the pants with a tiny plain tee or pairing the shirt with a pair of tiny shorts. This sleep-set is also similar to some done by Eberjey.

SONIA RYKIEL

It took me well over a decade before I finally committed and succumbed to a coat; before that though, I always wore large cardigans, my school blazer or just went without. That was until my fateful visit to Uniqlo last summer I’ve been rocking my coat like nobody’s business. Despite the love I have for my coat, I’m still crazy in love with an oversized cardigan that is perfect for winter as well as those lazy months when you can’t quite be bothered to go looking for a lighter jacket. This Sonia Rykiel wool blend cardigan does just the trick with its large ribbed collar and funky patterns brazened on the front. I would wear with a pair of jeans, boots and tee for a lazy day out or run to the shops.

CRUMPET

Okay, I’m going to ignore the fact that I spent more than two hours, several clicks and a whole post ogling and raving about my love for sweaters – and I expect you to do the same thing too because there are quite a few coming up soon. Of course my net-a-porter roundup could never possibly be complete without some sweaters to brighten my day, and what better way to stay positive than with this bright pink and camel striped sweater. The clash of colour isn’t so over-powering that it hurts your eyes, but it’s still mighty enough to get you that extra bit off attention. In the store, I’ve also seen a red and blue number (that I must say I like a lot more than this) which feels like heaven or funnily enough, feels like eating an excessively buttered and steaming crumpet – YUM. I would wear this with a pair of jeans and flats.

CRUMPET

This cashmere sweater is the perfect thing to dress up or down and works well whether you’re staying at home of going out with friends. I love the colour, the crew neck and the way it hugs the body so snuggly, and is something that I can really see myself wearing on those cold winter mornings as I drag myself over to class. I would wear with thick tights, a mini skirt, flats and a large pea coat.

ALEXANDER MCQUEEN

From afar the black and white on this bad-boy looks silver and sparkly, which I love and is also very similar to an Antonio Berardi mini dress that I wrote about a few months ago. I love the love cut crew neck, and the long sleeves, making it perfect for a night out in winter, as well as the skater-skirt which makes a change from body-con dresses. I would wear with black ankle boots and a bright clutch for laidback glamour.

BOTTEGA VENETA

While there may not be anything quite mellow about the price of this chunky waffle knit dream, I couldn’t not mention it. Similar to the Crumpet sweaters, this beauty makes me want to eat it with melted nutella and maple syrup, as I float lifelessly around my house with a broad grin on my face. I would wear this with sweat pants (talk about a total dress down) for a fabulous snuggle on the sofa; or if I really had to, I’d wear with some super dressy wide legged pants.

CRUMPET

Crumpet is really spoiling me today with this dark grey cable knit sweater. I love the classic and timeless nature of this piece which means you’ll know it’ll last you for many winters to come. The swirly cable knit also allows for a touch of effortless cool and makes the sweater a little different. I would wear with skinny jeans and fancy stilettos for a night out at the pub with friends.

CRUMPET

As you can imagine, by the time I get to the very last (Crumpet) item on my list, I’ve almost run out of things compliments to say, but have no fear, I’ll try my best. Stone may leave me looking a little washed out at times, but I would prefer that than being without this silk and cashmere blend sweater. I can just picture it now, the fine knit material is draped over my small frame and every second I’m adorned in this magical fabric, I’m being endlessly cuddled and smothered in a soft happiness that only I could ever know. At £130 for me, I would definitely call this an investment piece (and thank god I got paid last Tuesday or I’d be dribbling for a lot longer) and will be added to the shopping bag ASAP! I will wear this with a pair of pink jeans and platforms for a comfy yet stylishly classic night out with the girls.

Which outfit was your favourite? I have to say I’m totally in love with them all because they’re all so laidback and mellow while still being able to exude such elegance and sophistication. Let me know what you guys think.
