Mallorca: Essentials.

These were just a few essentials that contributed a lot to our enjoyable stay in Alcúida.

Mallorca: Essentials

SUN SCREEN

When it comes to sunning, I especially value my health. Even though I may be lucky enough to have some natural SPF in my skin, I still topped up with factor 25, I mean after all, you can never be too careful.

Mallorca: Essentials

SUPERGA

Who knew you could do so much with one pair of shoes? They were perfect for our hikes and long walks, and looked great with everything I wore. Plus, they were just SUPER comfy in general.

Mallorca: Essentials

ALLEN GINSBERG

Ginsberg’s book of poetry made for perfect reading on Bar Playa and in the apartment. His words are so powerful and riveting that it’s as though he’s reading directly to you. His poems are definitely worth a read.

Mallorca: Essentials

PASSPORT

Obviously you couldn’t imagine entering or leaving the county without this trusty companion – although I have read some interesting stories of people travelling without a passport…

Mallorca: Essentials

TOMS

As you saw, there wasn’t a day that I didn’t leave the apartment wearing these gorgeous oversized shades. They fit so perfectly, and like my Superga’s, they went with everything.

The Margeaux

ADAPTER

I bought a pack of six for less than £10 on Amazon and they worked just fine.

Mallorca: Essentials

CAXTON

My brother introduced me to these cards last year when I was ttravelling to America with my class. These cards are especially great because they’re free (apart from a £10 deposit that is automatically uploaded to the card and changed to the currency) and can be used anywhere around the world. Caxton fx also offers the best exchange rate and there are no added costs when you use it, unless you’re using an atm that charges of course. The only tricky thing for me was remembering my PIN.

Mallorca: Essentials

While these items were esstencials on this trip, they could just as easily be essentials for any trip abroad. Do you have any? If you’ll excuse me, I’m going to go and relive Alcúida all over again.

ps. My phone also came in handy every now and again ahahaha

Mallorca: Port d’Alcúida, Burgers & Airport Fun.

It may have been our last day on the island, but it was probably our funniest! As we had to check out by 12pm, we started our day fairly early (well, early for us), but didn’t end up checking out until almost 1pm hehe. Our flight wasn’t until 10pm, so we had to check into a different room so that ours could be cleaned and prepared for the next occupant. With our things safely put in our new room for the day, we went down to the restaurant for our last refreshments, before starting our adventurous day.

We had decided to spend our last day in Port d’Alcúida which was only 2km away from our apartment, but because we had been so enamoured by Bar Playa for the last week, we hadn’t get gotten round to visiting. As it was our last day, and we desperately needed a cash machine, we set out.

Finally arriving in the Port and having gotten out some money, we wandered around taking in the sights and working up an appetite.

We stopped at the Bodega del Mar tapas bar, mainly because it had free Wi-Fi – what can I say, a girl’s gotta have her Wi-Fi – and partly because I was in desperate need of the toilet by this point.

Mallorca: A Hike with a View.

Saturday was one of our most active days, especially when you consider the fact that I changed THREE times. I woke up gazing at this painting of sunflowers…

Mallorca: Stormy Days & Balcony Nights.

On Friday morning I woke up to this:

Mallorca: Stormy Days & Balcony Nights

The flashing lightning and roaring thunder was enough to wake anybody up… apart from my sister who “claims” she slept through it all.

Anyway, despite all the rain, we still made our way down to the beach to sit on some rocks and take in that refreshing Alcúdia air, and to watch the waves.

We then thought it’d be a good idea for us to head to the restaurant for something to eat.

Mallorca: Stormy Days & Balcony Nights

I already knew what I had in mind especially after the previous night I hadn’t been able to order what I wanted. If there’s one thing you should know about me, it’s that I LOVE LOVE LOVE paella, and that no trip to a Spanish affiliated land is complete without a healthy serving of the dish. This paella was PHE-NOM-EN-AL! Omg!! Even thinking about it now is giving me tingles.

Mallorca: Bar Playa.

As you’ll come to find, we spent practically every single day down on the beach, which coincidentally was less than a minute away from our apartment. The beach was largely secluded with there only being at least a handful of two people present at any given time. The private nature of the beach made it all the more fun and intimate, and kind of like a secret spot that nobody knew about.
