Dust.

I’m still recovering from that Ripper Street finale (have you been watching it on Amazon Prime?) so this song from Eli Young Band will be a welcoming distraction for the foreseeable future.

Hope you’ve had a good productive weekend. Happy Sunday.

Soccer Mom Lumberjack.

There’s something about this gilet that just lends itself so well to thoughts of being a lumberjack (especially when wore with these shorts), so naturally every time I wear it/ see it/ or take a picture in it, the first thought that comes to my mind is chopping up wood in the Swiss Alps. This also means that anytime you see this gilet here, you can be sure that I’ll make some kind of reference to lumberjacking (…is that even a word? Word doesn’t seem to think so but who cares…)

So, I wore this while running errands last week, despite the randomly soaring temperatures – I mean, I totally thought that summer had ended mid-August, but I guess I was wrong, not that I’m complaining or anything – and felt pretty cool. The look really struck a not-quite-summer-anymore-but-not-yet-autumn chord, which I liked, while adding that extra kind of glamour to an otherwise soccer mom outfit.

Maybe when the weather finally decides that it should start getting colder, I might swap the shorts for a pair of full length jeans and see if I can alter my lumberjackness for a different kind of soccer mom style.

ps. And in case you were wondering, I was listening to Chris Young’s A.M. album, which is catchy and so perfect omg, and most definitely worth a download.

Simple As…

A song that feels like it was made to be played on full blast and on repeat for the rest of time. This 2009 track from Kid Cudi’s Man on the Moon: The End of Day album, is a perfect song to just kick back and think to, and is perfect for Sunday, for non-other reason than the fact that it’s such an easy-listening song that you feel yourself dissolve into a realm of peace – something similar to the euphoria you get from an incredible yoga session.

…and it’s really simple as that… Happy Sunday.

If I Were a Lumberjack…

I imagined I’d dress like this every day, apart from in the summertime I would maybe not wear the fur.

I also imagine that if I were a lumberjack I’d be way too busy chopping wood and doing other woody things, to find the time for pictures. But then that being said; I’d be my own special kind of lumberjack so obviously I’d have to find the time to snap a few pics.

I might just become a fashion blogging lumberjack instead…

I think I may have just talked myself into becoming a lumberjack someday. Looks like I should add it to my already extensive list of potential careers.

Monochrome Boho Sunday.

I’m not usually a fan of black and white monochrome, but on Sunday I seemed to break my cardinal fashion when I wore m black maxi dress and black and white kimono. It was super comfy and I felt as though I was gliding through the house whilst mingling with visiting guests.

Conscious Kimono.

I bought this kimono from H&M a couple of weeks ago and I feel as though I haven’t taken it off. It’s so slinky and goes well with everything (even things that it doesn’t really go with, but I don’t really care hahahaha). I got it in a size large and even though it’s a little bit overwhelming at times, I wouldn’t have it any other way.

As it’s been an insane hot summer this year, this kimono has acted as the perfect cover up for days spent topping up my tan and laying out in the sun. plus with it being part of H&M’s Conscious Collection I feel like I’m taking care of the environment while catching some rays (young Alice would be super proud) – talk about a fashionable way to multitask.

Another thing I’ve found from days spent out in the sun is that my love and need for a matching two piece is no longer as intense and serious as it was. I’m now more than happy to mix things up and splice different swimsuits together – clashing prints, colours and all! My bikini is an amalgamation of a black Kookaï one and a tie-dye Primark one.

Like most things that I end up loving, I’m now obsessed with kimonos and want to own every single one of them.

Lanterns.

This latest album from Son Lux is quite literally out of this world. It’s like going on this crazy psychedelic adventure, through an acid induced rabbit hole; and when you do come out through the other end; you’re left feeling a little bit dazed. If you ask me, I’d say it’s a mad mixture of Gotye and IAMX in terms of its futuristic sound, lyrics and the all-round cacophony, yet harmonious use of instruments. While the first few songs on the album were amazing, the middle songs felt like they were dragging a little bit and I really couldn’t wait for the album to be over. However, by the time the album finished, I had hoped there were at least three more songs. For me, I’d give this album three and a half out of five, even though there are a couple of five star songs on it. Check out the trailer below and let me know what you think.

If you’re into deep, meaningful and trippy music with a thick and heavy bass, this could be right for you. But even if you’re not, this album really does have something for everyone.
