Plaid & Distressed.

Is it still summer? Why is the sun still shining like it’s mid-July but the cool breeze is making me feel like it’s mid-May? But the most important question of them all: what am I supposed to wear? For those not-quite-any-season kind of weather conditions, your safest bet are a pair of jeans and a plaid flannel shirt.

Since buying these jeans back in July, I’ve been hard-pressed to find an outfit they don’t look great with. If anything, as the months have passed they’ve paired better with even more of my clothes. I thought I’d probably go off them around August, but here I am at the end of September and I’m kicking myself for not investing in another (or two) pairs of these Topshop bad boys. Comfy; tick. Stylish; tick. Weather neutral; double tick – although your knees might get a little chilly in the winter 😛 . You really can’t go wrong.

Aren’t my matching pink nails so cute? Funny that when I first tried this colour I wasn’t such a big fan, but now I’m loving it!

Blue Jeans.

Saturday was really such a beautiful day. With highs of up to 19 degrees it was the perfect opportunity to crack open my new jeans and take them out for a whirl. It’s been a really long time since I’ve owned jeans that were so blue, but these are just phenomenal and I’m already thinking of buying another pair.

The only thing that would have really completed this look would have been the pair of Boca shades I was talking about on Friday. Don’t you think?

Five Favourites Thursday: April 2015.

My oh my has April been a crazy month or what? I feel like I found my mojo and zest for life again, following a wobbly February. April has definitely been my best month so far this year, not that I’ve done anything particularly exciting, but it has been good.

FRIENDS

April seems to have been the month of catching up with old friends. A couple of weeks ago I met up with two of my oldest friends and it was the best most physically exhausting (if you laughed as much as we did, you’d feel EXACTLY the same) night I’d had in a long time! Even though we hadn’t seen each other for a really long time, it felt as though no time had passed, and we were back to misbehaving like when we were in primary school. Then earlier this week I met up with Beth and Lauran and we had a fun day traipsing around the Natural History and Science Museums.

GREY’S CATCH-UP

Don’t confuse this for me enjoying the latest episode because I really didn’t! Though the latest episode was good in terms of Derek narrating, I found the whole thing to be quite sloppy. But anyway enough about that, let’s talk about the epic Grey’s marathon I had a few weekends ago. It was AMAZING (!!!) and it reminded me why Grey’s Anatomy is my favourite show in the whole wide world (sorry Scandal). It was an emotional roller-coaster that had me screaming at my screen until the early hours of the morning, but it was so worth it. one last thing that I’ll add though; I’m not sure who these writers are trying to kid but Owen and Amelia are not fooling anybody – they are the least believable couple on the planet.

AVENGERS

Last night I went to see the new Avengers movie with two of my oldest friends and it was so much fun! It’s definitely worth a watch, and I think I’ll be going to see it again soon.

NEWS HUB

As well as blogging, writing essays and working part time (because I’m not busy enough lol) I’m now writing for news site, The News Hub. I’ve only written two posts, but I’ll try to write one a week, so please make sure you check that out.

ESSAYS

You wouldn’t believe that writing 3×4000 word essays would be remotely enjoyable, but believe you me, it really has. Obviously there are times when I’ve struggled and stalled, but overall the whole experience has been amazing and I have loved researching and discovering all sorts of things. Through writing my essays, I also feel like I’ve discovered new parts of me, as I find myself siding with some arguments and not others. I know that I won’t, but I think I’m going to miss writing essays when I’m finished with this masters come September.

If April is anything to go by, I know May will be just as fun! Happy Thursday!

Rose & Gold.

There’s nothing like a fresh manicure and jewellery combo to have you feeling footloose and fancy free. I know this manicure isn’t exactly new, but ‘Rose Hip’ is one of my favourite Barry M colours (especially from their Gelly Collection). Having spent the last couple of weeks feeling badass in reds, I wanted to try something a little lighter for a while.

Batman Chic.

I hadn’t worn this jumper for a couple of years, and now I’ve worn it three times in the last two months. If ever there were a reason to dedicate a post to an item of clothing, this would definitely be it. Teamed with my favourite gilet and scuffy Superga’s, I had a blast running errands and posing 😉

Ballerina.

Or as I like to call it, ‘Barbie Pink’. I got this colour the other day, and while I LOVED it in the bottle, I’m still a little undecided about it on my nails. It’s a dusty kind of plastic pink that’s been seen on the Moschino runway, and has a tendency to look a bit too much.

Maybe this colour will end up growing on me…

Adam Lippes.

One of the signs of really loving a designer, is coming across various pieces from their collection without being aware they are from the same designer, until one day it clicks that your net-a-porter wishlist is pretty much made up of one designer. For me, this was definitely the case with Adam Lippes.

Even though Mr Lippes has been around for over ten years (starting his fashion career at Polo Ralph Lauren and Oscar de la Renta), it’s only been in the last few months that I’ve taken notice of his perfect and sleek designs.

Looking at the pieces, you really get that cool American vibe – kind of laidback, put together, yet not too fussy – with every piece being something to be dressed up or down depending on the occasion.

For me, it’s the simplicity of it all, and a sense of calm that I get from looking at oversized ponchos, cotton tops and chic outlines that has made me a big fan of Adam Lippes.

Check out his collection on net-a-porter.com and on his site.
