Hell On Heels.

This has been one of my favourite country songs for a few years now. Although it’s slow, kind of heavy and a little dark at times, I still find the song to be fun, badass (it makes me feel bad… in a good way 😉 ) and extremely addictive; and I regularly get it stuck in my head. Case in point, I randomly found myself humming this song a few weeks ago which then lead to me listening to it on repeat for about four hours – I kid you not. Today happens to be another day where I’ve found myself singing the chorus and heading over to iTunes to listen to it.

It’s been a few years since the Pistol Annies released any new music, but I’m hoping they’ll have a comeback soon. Give the song a listen. Happy Sunday.

Morning After: Live at the Grand Ole Opry.

Last night I found myself drifting through the Grand Ole Opry’s musical archives on YouTube and stumbled across this live performance from Ashley Monroe. Now I have to say, even though I’ve known of Ashley (she’s one third of the Pistol Annies who have been mentioned on here before; and her duet with Hunter Hayes always leaves me feeling a little teary eyed) for quite some time, I’ve never actually listened to any of her solo stuff. I loved this song immediately and found myself connecting to it – I mean after all, we’ve all had our different kinds of “morning after” situations, and I find Ashley’s voice hauntingly beautiful and innocent, yet so full of life and stories. Anyway, suffice to say that I’ll be downloading her album ASAP.

There’s really nothing quite like a quiet Monday night enjoying a spot of live country music.

Sunday Soundtrack: 2013 Edition.

I think it’s safe to say that it has been quite an impressive year in terms of music, and it’s also safe to say that Diamonds and Pebbles have seen its fair share of different genres. As it’s the last Sunday of the year, I thought it’d be good to take a look back at some of my favourite songs from this year in order to ready us for the New Year.

I hope you’ve all enjoyed the music this year, and you can be sure that 2014 will be filled with even more tunes that are keeping me going. Happy Sunday!

Boys From the South.

This is a sweet and slow number perfect for a lazy Sunday, from country band, Pistol Annies. I first heard it yesterday and have had it on repeat ever since. This song reminds me that despite the fact that I’m a city girl through and through (and LOVE LOVE LOVE a man in a suit), I would most probably give that all up and happily move to the South if the right man, with a deep voice and Southern drawl, came along. Their values, tradition and hot looks make them all the more romantic… but then again that could always be imagine that Luke Bryan has projected into my mind… either way I love boys from the South.

Happy Sunday.
