Just.

As the year draws to a close you usually find yourself looking back (either fondly or regretfully) on the year that just went past. Earlier this week, as I thought back on the last twelve months and all my trials and tribulations, there was one song that came to mind and I’ve had it stuck in my head ever since. As it’s been a while since I’ve treated you to a Sunday Soundtrack, I thought it would be fitting to have it as today’s Soundtrack.

Happy Sunday.

Simple As…

A song that feels like it was made to be played on full blast and on repeat for the rest of time. This 2009 track from Kid Cudi’s Man on the Moon: The End of Day album, is a perfect song to just kick back and think to, and is perfect for Sunday, for non-other reason than the fact that it’s such an easy-listening song that you feel yourself dissolve into a realm of peace – something similar to the euphoria you get from an incredible yoga session.

…and it’s really simple as that… Happy Sunday.

Tomorrow: Live at the Grand Ole Opry.

It would seem as though I’ve found myself a new country voice to obsess and swoon over, and that is in the form of Chris Young. His voice is deep and reminiscent of that classic old-school country sound like Alan Jackson injected with that new kind of country sound. There is also something about his voice that is so utterly genuine and true that it is as though he’s singing from his own experience – whether it’s because he co-writes a majority of his songs or because I feel such a personal connection to them, I just don’t know. Anyway, performing at the Grand Ole Opry, Young sings about saying goodbye to a love, albeit an unhealthy love, and about spending one last night together. I guess we’ve all kind of been there; being with a person who is just not right for us, whether this be a romantic love, or a more platonic friendship, and you know that you have to say goodbye to it, no matter how hard or heartbreaking it may be; but obviously not before one last of being together before the inevitable tomorrow.

I can’t tell if I just rambled away at that last bit, but definitely make sure you check out the video. Goodnight.

Giraffes in the Sunset.

I want this picture enlarged, framed and on one of the many walls in my future mansion, but I guess in the meantime I’ll have to settle for having this picture on my Tumblr instead. There’s something so comforting and soothing about this photo. I love the misty sky that looks cold, whilst the sunset also makes the setting look warm. The colours are kind of overwhelming (in a good way of course) and I think I could stare at this mesmerising image for a long time, unwinding.

Christmas has come and gone at ultra-high speed and now that I’ve finally finished all my assignments, I’m not feeling so bad about going back to university tomorrow. It feels kind of weird, but that’s life.
