Kyoto.

No, not the city, but the sock boot from 3.1 Phillip Lim. Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ll know what sock boots have been all the rage of late (i.e. at least for the last eighteen months); but despite their popularity it’s taken me a little while to get behind the style. In fact, when I first saw the shoe I absolutely hated it. it wasn’t until my sister got a pair that my thoughts started to thaw and bit by bit I started to see their charm. However, it wasn’t until last week (I think) that I came to the realisation that they weren’t all bad – I personally blame Sunmi who rocked the shoe during her recent promotions for her latest single, Gashina – and stopped hating them. Then, on Sunday I made an announcement to my sister that I wanted to get a pair myself, and as if by some kind of magic, about ten minutes later, I stumbled upon these beauties. Now obviously at £525 I’m not planning on buying them anytime soon, but I wanted to share my fashion epiphany and style inspiration.

So what do we think? Yay or nay?

p.s If I ever do go to Kyoto, you can sure that I will let you know!

Cashmere Moment.

Equipment is renowned for two things: their crushed silk blouses and their buttery soft cashmere knits. When I used worked in Harvey Nichols, I’d practically dive into all the new season pieces, allowing them to glide through my fingers as I fawned over their smooth and luxurious textures. Even before I started working in Harvey Nichols I was a big BIG fan of Equipment and would always be so excited whenever net-a-porter updated their collection. And it looks as though some things never change as when I saw these Equipment dresses, I realised that I needed two cashmere turtleneck dresses.

Plaid & Distressed.

Is it still summer? Why is the sun still shining like it’s mid-July but the cool breeze is making me feel like it’s mid-May? But the most important question of them all: what am I supposed to wear? For those not-quite-any-season kind of weather conditions, your safest bet are a pair of jeans and a plaid flannel shirt.

details

Since buying these jeans back in July, I’ve been hard-pressed to find an outfit they don’t look great with. If anything, as the months have passed they’ve paired better with even more of my clothes. I thought I’d probably go off them around August, but here I am at the end of September and I’m kicking myself for not investing in another (or two) pairs of these Topshop bad boys. Comfy; tick. Stylish; tick. Weather neutral; double tick – although your knees might get a little chilly in the winter 😛 . You really can’t go wrong.

Aren’t my matching pink nails so cute? Funny that when I first tried this colour I wasn’t such a big fan, but now I’m loving it!

Five Favourites Thursday: June 2015.

Is it just me or did this month go by so quickly? Sure we’ve still got a good five days left of the month, but as the last Thursday of June, the month is pretty much finished. Anyway, as I’ve spent the majority of my month working eight and a half hours a day whilst writing my dissertation, I haven’t exactly done anything too crazy recently – unless you count window shopping on net-a-porter. Check out five of my favourite pieces this month.

Styling Suggestion

If there’s one regret I have about this month, it’s that I didn’t post quite nearly enough as I would have liked. Oh well, that’s something I hope to rectify next month. Until then, happy last Thursday of June 2015!

Taraji P. Henson X Allure.

Ms Henson is Allure magazine’s July cover girl, and she is totally rocking it!

Cover girl: Taraji smoulders for Allure's July issue, turning heads in a revealing red number

If you’ve been living under a rock for the last couple of months, you won’t know that Taraji is one of the leads on my favourite show Empire. She plays Cookie Lyon, the matriarch (I don’t like the term but now is neither the time nor place to go into details about it) who has just been released from serving seventeen years in prison. For more details on the show you had better watch it and find out for yourself.

Smoking hot: The Empire star poses in a series of plunging gowns

I’ve always found her striking and mesmerising, but this cover is just S T U N N I N G. I can’t wait for Empire to come back in September.

Shine Your Light.

Today’s soundtrack comes from South Korean singer, Park Hyo Shin. Like most things that I end up becoming obsessed with, I stumbled across this song randomly and it’s been on my mind for the last ten hours (I’m pretty sure this song was playing in the background of my dream last night). This hotly anticipated single from one of Korea’s most renowned singers, is a beautiful power ballad that goes to show that music is truly universal, and that it doesn’t matter if you can’t understand all the words – you can still feel the passion and emotion.

Let me know what you think. Happy Sunday.

Summer Morning Walks.

Is it the summer? I want to say yes on account of the nice weather we’ve been having, but then I want to say no on account of the weather we’ve been having… Anyway, yesterday morning instead of going to for a run (which I was so sure I’d do), I went on a leisurely stroll (in my pjs) with my sister around our neighbourhood and enjoyed the tranquil atmosphere.

It’s not a bad way to spend the day off, and certainly makes a difference to staying in the office all day huh?

Antonio Berardi: Embellished Beauty.

Can we all just take a moment to admire this beautiful dress? It’s perfectly perfect (that’s totally a thing!) and if I had a spare £6,405 I would definitely snap this up ASAP!

It probably goes without saying that I wish I owned this dress, huh? Oh well, a girl can dream…

Kerry Washington X The Edit.

Wow FINALLY! Kerry Washington is The Edit’s latest cover girl, and she is looking all kinds of beautiful fabulous!

Cover girl: Kerry Washington flashes just a hint of skin on the cover of The Edit, wrapping herself up in a jacket from Isabel Marant

I’ve been staring at these pics since yesterday and I love how effortless and serene Kerry looks in every shot. She truly is an incredible role model and inspiration.

Showing some leg: The 38-year-old actress got some sun in another stunning shot, going barefoot in a simple Marni dress

WOW WOW WOW. You can check out more pictures and the rest of her interview here. Happy Friday!
