Mules Please.

Truth be told I’m not really a huge fan of mules (or ugly shoes in general), but when I saw these today on net-a-porter I couldn’t help but wish I could add them to my basket and wait for them patiently to arrive in the post. Maybe one day when I’ve got cash to burn I’ll buy myself a few pairs of these, but in the meantime I guess simply looking will have to do.

Five Favourites Thursday: The Mini Bag.

Yes it’s that time of the month again where I share five of my favourite things. I think it’s fair to say that September has been a really mellow month for me so far (but who knows what’ll happen in the next six days…). Since handing in my dissertation at the beginning of the month, I’ve been relishing the fact that for the first September in about twenty years (I’m not even joking) I haven’t had to return to any form of education. It’s been both exhilarating and a little weird, but it’s something that was going to happen sooner or later. So, what have I been doing instead of returning to the classroom you ask? Well, I’ve been eyeing up the cutest mini bags and making a wish list of course. Check it out.

Five Favourites Thursday: June 2015.

Is it just me or did this month go by so quickly? Sure we’ve still got a good five days left of the month, but as the last Thursday of June, the month is pretty much finished. Anyway, as I’ve spent the majority of my month working eight and a half hours a day whilst writing my dissertation, I haven’t exactly done anything too crazy recently – unless you count window shopping on net-a-porter. Winter Warmers.

It feels like only yesterday we were suffering from a sweltering summer and sleeping on top of the sheets because it was just too hot, and even wearing a thin tee was too much in the heat. Somehow, winter has snuck up on us again and it’s that time of year when we start looking for last winter’s thick knitted jumpers and cosy scarves. Over the past couple of weeks I’ve added a few winter perfect pieces to my net-a-porter wish list, and with winter well and truly upon us, now seems like the perfect time for me to start looking for cheaper alternatives. Girl Most Likely.

Olivia Palermo features in this week’s The Edit, where she talks about her surprising [fabulous] wedding outfit from earlier this year, her design collaboration and hopes for the future, gives great style and fashion advice, and just continues to be her incredible amazing and inspiring self.

    

In her interview she also talks about seeing the bigger picture in life and not being ‘short-sighted’ in terms of goals or future prospects. Olivia has something of a ten year plan, which even though it may seem a little too far off, it allows for ‘room to breathe, change and alter the plan’. I definitely feel that at a time when there is so much pressure (both internal and external – especially internal) it’s good to remember that things take time and that there is no hurry to achieve anything.

   

All we can do is live our lives to the fullest every day and keep moving forward. I really think that Olivia’s way of looking at things with a long-term perspective is something I’m going to try to adopt in my life, which should hopefully lift some of the neurotic and anxious energy from my mind.

    

I’m telling you, the more I read about Olivia, the more I’m dying to hang out with her. She really does seem like such a cool girl to be friends with. Check out the full interview here.

Most days I dress like a slob. But on those off days when I feel like putting an extra bit of effort into my public appearance and personal presentation, it never hurts to look to pieces like the ones below for inspiration. Ladylike dressing doesn’t just mean perfectly hemmed dressed six inch stilettos (though arguably that’s part of it); it means something so much more – it means bringing that extra bit of glamour and simplicity (think Olivia Palermo or Blair Eadie especially in their dressed down looks), to each and every outfit.
