Blue Cream Basics.

I live for basics. In fact, you could most readily describe my entire wardrobe as a basics haven. Even when I do dress up to the nines and don my highest heels, there’s always still a sense of simpleness that comes from pairing basic pieces like a white tee, cut off shorts (which I must admit I’ve only recently become OBSESSED with), and striped dresses with canvas sneakers. Today’s picks really emulate my somewhat lazy style with: a striped navy dream from A.P.C., that I just so happen to won a similar design by Jack Wills; a cutesy mini bag in the much sought-after trapeze shape by Michael Kors; and finally the must have denim shorts, courtesy of Victoria Beckham. Most days I dress like a slob. But on those off days when I feel like putting an extra bit of effort into my public appearance and personal presentation, it never hurts to look to pieces like the ones below for inspiration. Ladylike dressing doesn’t just mean perfectly hemmed dressed six inch stilettos (though arguably that’s part of it); it means something so much more – it means bringing that extra bit of glamour and simplicity (think Olivia Palermo or Blair Eadie especially in their dressed down looks), to each and every outfit.

Simple Pleasures.

Today’s picks are so simple yet manage to arouse a happiness and joy from deep (deep, DEEP) in my heart. You’ll probably also notice that the styling is such as simple as the pieces I’ve chosen. We start with Stella (who I’ll now deem the queen of sweaters, especially of the oversized variety) and her metallic sweater that makes me crave cold winters just so that I can cosy up inside one of these babies, and sit by the fire. Mr Louboutin does not disappoint with his spikey heeled ‘Kate’ pump that is the most beautiful shoe I’ve seen all week. Nothing warms my heart like a diamond or two… (I mean this blog is called DIAMONDS and pebbles – emphasis on the diamonds) and Ileana rounds off the pack with this simple thread ring that I need to own ASAP!

Who doesn’t love an influx of new black duds even now and again, uh? Interesting today’s picks start and finish with Bottega Veneta, who do not disappoint with their cosy cashmere wrap coat and their trademark woven leather bag. Sure Halloween may have happened a few weeks ago, but that doesn’t mean you can’t vamp it up with Dolce & Gabbana’s sexy lace booties, that would look equally cute with a mini dress of leggings. And then finally Michael Kors has something for those of us who just cannot decide: jersey or leather?

Candy Pieces.

Today’s picks look as though they could easily have come from Dylan’s Candy Bar, and leaves me craving a little sugar for my sweet tooth. Victoria Beckham’s classic leather shopper (which I think definitely has the power to surpass the infamous Birkin given time) appears twice, once in cream and a second time in luminous orange; while her equally stylish tennis dress also makes an appearance in dusty pink. Fendi’s metallic leather flats remind me of a pair I had as a little girl that I really hated at the time, but now looking back I kind of miss them. It’s been a while since a sweater graced the blog, and what better way to reintroduce my coveted wardrobe favourite than with Theory’s super snuggly cashmere offering – I’m in sweater heaven with this baby! Oscar de la Renta, the king of ballroom call never disappoints whenever I’m looking for some candy, and he really didn’t let me down with this cutesy cropped baby jacket that I’d wear over something really simple like a pair of blue jeans and a white tank. Finally we have Gianvito Rossi rounding up the pack with his nude colour pumps, ideal for practically any occasion.

Beckham, Oak and Maje.

Victoria Beckham leads the designer pack in today’s favourite picks. While her ‘Denise’ ponte dress may need to be taken up a few inches if I were to wear it, the blush pink and contrast black mesh is a killer combination that I’d love to rock for a night of fun and dancing, or better yet to rule the boardroom with some crazy high stilettos.  Every girl definitely needs as many LBDs as she can shake a stick at, especially one that is all bodycon on top, but then offers something a little different with a flirty flared skirt at the bottom. Oak knows how to make sure you feel as comfy as you look chic while resting at home and catching up with all your favourite TV shows, especially with their super chic white cardigan that I’d wear (oversized of course!) slung lazily over a pair of black leggings and a long tee. This cute Victoria Beckham mini skirt is just the thing I’ve been looking for (and believe me have I been looking) that would go nicely with practically everything. Maje obviously knew what they were talking about naming this jacket ‘Dream’, because it is all that and so so much more!

Pretty Vicky.

So I literally just saw these pictures moments ago and couldn’t wait until tomorrow to share! Victoria Beckham is actual PERFECTION, and I won’t lie when I say that sometimes I look at her and think: WOW! There are few people I would class in this category, but seriously, she really is something else – the only other person I would put in league with Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen (which obviously says quite a lot, I mean, you guys read this blog, right?).

    

Victoria is the most beautiful, incredibly talented, and inspirational woman; her signature style coming second to none. My love runs deep. What an AWESOME lady!!

Candy Colours.

A bit of candy makes up for the dreary grey clouds outside and I have to say that the pinks and whites have done their bit in putting a smile on my face.

RED VALENTINO

I really wish this dress was a smidgen shorter, after all, we short girls need some way of making our legs look longer. Anyway, with a pair of super high heels and a little bit of hemming, this dress will look perfect for that certain evening occasion.

Okay, so I know I said I was over hating on the peplum trend, but I think I may have been a bit over presumptuous. When I stumbled upon this top I did falter a little because I wasn’t too sure about the overall shape and style of the peplum design, but after a few minutes of contemplation I pulled myself together and I think was able to get to it to work in my head. What a dream.

The studs on the Valentino clutch give it that understated rockability that works no matter who you are or what your personal style is. I love the little arm band being you can wear it on your wrist without having to hold it up all night, and the size of the clutch means you can literally fit anything you want inside.
