When life gets you down it’s best to distract yourself with frivolous things that are sure you make you feel better, even if it is only for a moment or two. For me, net-a-porter is always the first place I turn to whenever I’m feeling sad, and I can easily spend hours over an hour perusing the site and adding new pieces to my wish list. so today, in an attempt to help stop myself from feeling too down in the dumps, I’m sharing some of my latest faves from net-a-ports.

Astrological Fashion Blogging.

With Mars moving out of my sign and into Sagittarius, it’s fair to say that I’m of no use to anyone at the moment, unless negativity and a bad attitude is what people want – hey, I could be wrong, but I’m fairly certain my bad mood should be kept to myself until I can snap out of this funk. Wish List Rings.

This time last year I would never have imagined that jewellery would be such a part of my everyday life. I used to never wear ANY jewellery, save for a pair of earrings every now and then (and by “now and then” I mean practically never”); but these days I feel as though I’ve become something of a connoisseur (and by “connoisseur” I mean that I’m hardly ever without at least one ring on my hand). I’ve been on the lookout for some new rings to update my collection, and I thought I’d share some of my finds with you below.

Like a Lady.

Most days I dress like a slob. But on those off days when I feel like putting an extra bit of effort into my public appearance and personal presentation, it never hurts to look to pieces like the ones below for inspiration. Ladylike dressing doesn’t just mean perfectly hemmed dressed six inch stilettos (though arguably that’s part of it); it means something so much more – it means bringing that extra bit of glamour and simplicity (think Olivia Palermo or Blair Eadie especially in their dressed down looks), to each and every outfit.

Simple Pleasures.

Today’s picks are so simple yet manage to arouse a happiness and joy from deep (deep, DEEP) in my heart. You’ll probably also notice that the styling is such as simple as the pieces I’ve chosen. We start with Stella (who I’ll now deem the queen of sweaters, especially of the oversized variety) and her metallic sweater that makes me crave cold winters just so that I can cosy up inside one of these babies, and sit by the fire. Mr Louboutin does not disappoint with his spikey heeled ‘Kate’ pump that is the most beautiful shoe I’ve seen all week. Nothing warms my heart like a diamond or two… (I mean this blog is called DIAMONDS and pebbles – emphasis on the diamonds) and Ileana rounds off the pack with this simple thread ring that I need to own ASAP!

A Few Pieces To Cheer Me Up.

I’ve been throwing up since morning and it’s put an enormous downer on my day; not only because it’s meant I’ve spent the day on my hands and knees next to the toilet, but because it’s meant I’ve been unable to go to bench ball (something I was REALLY looking forward to :() – I guess I’ll just have to go next week. With all this drama going on, there’s only one place that can cheer me up: net-a-porter, and today’s picks do not disappoint. We start off with Dion Lee’s black and blue halter top that looks great with the matching skirt (which I haven’t included because it’s a tad too long for my liking), but would just as fab with a pair of skinny jeans. Christian Louboutin makes the list twice with a pair of sexy and classic python pumps and a pair of thigh high black suede boots. We then finish things off with L’Wren Scott’s gold number with an ultra-plush blue velvet ribbon detail (you know how much I’m loving ribbons at the moment); and a Fendi bag, cute and fabulous enough to rival the iconic Chanel 2.55.

What’s New Wednesday.

I’m still getting to grips with the new and improved net-a-porter site, and while my thoughts on the new site keep shifting from like, to dislike, to irritating, back to like; I know that regardless of what I think, net-a-porter will always be my favourite fashion site!

I’d say we’re definitely more used to seeing fabulous and simply designed chiffon and silk shirts from Equipment, but more recently this French design house has been branching out with more graphic and out there prints and cashmere sweaters.

To say I love a sheer shirt would be an understatement because I REALLY luuuurve sheer shirt. There is something so sexy, unassuming and oh so sophisticated about them, making them easy to wear all year round. This Joseph shirt would be the perfect little addition to any woman’s sheer shirt closet.

The first thing that came to my head when I saw this dress was: ‘wow, Diane’s been taking design cues from Stella McCartney!’ if you don’t believe me, look at this. While there may be certain similarities between the two, that doesn’t make my love for this dress any less.

Monday Musings.

Okay, so obviously, it’s NOT Monday, but I didn’t get round to showing the latest additions to my wish list yesterday.

There was no way THESE precious jewels weren’t going to make the cut. Of course I love diamonds, but all glitz aside, I’m a massive fan of Ileana Makri’s gems and she’s been featured on here a few times before. There’s also something about a pair of beautiful and oh so simple diamond earrings that has me weak in the knees, and did I mention that these have a hint of pink in them? Gorgeous!

I did a double-take when I first saw this dress because I couldn’t decide what I thought about it (it’s kind of funny how often this seems to happen to me). Even though you’re more likely to see Jennifer Lopez rocking this on the red carpet (yeah I’m talking the BIG gold bracelets and long dangly chandelier earrings), I feel there’s a way to (kind of, at least) make the dress slightly less hoochy (no offence Roberto) and slightly more classic.

Having been heavily engrossed with Scandal for the past couple of weeks, it’s no surprise that this jacket screamed ‘First Lady’. I love the golden colour and boxy shape, and at this time I’m kind of wishing that I was a First Lady just so that I could wear all the cool outfits, but who knows what the future holds 😉
