This past week I’ve been thinking more and more about my autumn/winter, and I’ve been looking around for inspiration on what key pieces I should add. As expected, net-a-porter proved to be a great place for me to source ideas, so now I’ve convinced myself to spend the next few months in miniskirts (with tights of course) and sweaters – here’s hoping I keep it up. Clutch It, Bring It Bag.

For those of you who grew up with an older brother who loved rap music, you’ll understand when I say that those early rap songs are pretty hard to just forget. Now you’re probably wondering what the hell rap noughties rap music has to do with net-a-porter, so let me explain. As I was going through the latest designer duds on net-a-porter this morning, I came across quite a few clothes and bags that I felt deserved their very own post, instead of being lumped together with the clothes (like I usually do). For some strange reason, while I was figuring out what to title this post, the 2006 Busta Rhymes song ‘Touch It’ popped into my head immediately and the rest as they say was history – I had my title. Now for those of you who are unfamiliar with the chorus of the song, it goes a little something like this: “touch it, bring it babe, watch it, turn it, leave it, stop, format it”. Anyway, onto the bags…

Simple Pleasures.

Today’s picks are so simple yet manage to arouse a happiness and joy from deep (deep, DEEP) in my heart. You’ll probably also notice that the styling is such as simple as the pieces I’ve chosen. We start with Stella (who I’ll now deem the queen of sweaters, especially of the oversized variety) and her metallic sweater that makes me crave cold winters just so that I can cosy up inside one of these babies, and sit by the fire. Mr Louboutin does not disappoint with his spikey heeled ‘Kate’ pump that is the most beautiful shoe I’ve seen all week. Nothing warms my heart like a diamond or two… (I mean this blog is called DIAMONDS and pebbles – emphasis on the diamonds) and Ileana rounds off the pack with this simple thread ring that I need to own ASAP!

Candy Pieces.

Today’s picks look as though they could easily have come from Dylan’s Candy Bar, and leaves me craving a little sugar for my sweet tooth. Victoria Beckham’s classic leather shopper (which I think definitely has the power to surpass the infamous Birkin given time) appears twice, once in cream and a second time in luminous orange; while her equally stylish tennis dress also makes an appearance in dusty pink. Fendi’s metallic leather flats remind me of a pair I had as a little girl that I really hated at the time, but now looking back I kind of miss them. It’s been a while since a sweater graced the blog, and what better way to reintroduce my coveted wardrobe favourite than with Theory’s super snuggly cashmere offering – I’m in sweater heaven with this baby! Oscar de la Renta, the king of ballroom call never disappoints whenever I’m looking for some candy, and he really didn’t let me down with this cutesy cropped baby jacket that I’d wear over something really simple like a pair of blue jeans and a white tank. Finally we have Gianvito Rossi rounding up the pack with his nude colour pumps, ideal for practically any occasion.

Embellished Distractions.

After a long day spent thinking about American conspiracy theories (JFK to be more precise) and about how women in American politics are represented on television shows, there’s nothing quite like immersing myself in luxury fashion – at least for the moment before I dive back to work anyway. Those helping take my mind of uni work are: Rosantica’s BEAUTIFUL headband that I wouldn’t mind rocking; Tory Burch’s embellished knit sweater that would look divine tucked in a black wool mini and flat knee high boots; SUPER short and super cute black shorts a la Givenchy, worn with a roll-neck; a mini embellished Stella bag that would look perfect with just about anything; and finally Chloé’s fabulous sweater dress, which I’m sure will come in handy soon! Check it out.
