Five Favourites Thursday: The Mini Bag.

Yes it’s that time of the month again where I share five of my favourite things. I think it’s fair to say that September has been a really mellow month for me so far (but who knows what’ll happen in the next six days…). Since handing in my dissertation at the beginning of the month, I’ve been relishing the fact that for the first September in about twenty years (I’m not even joking) I haven’t had to return to any form of education. It’s been both exhilarating and a little weird, but it’s something that was going to happen sooner or later. So, what have I been doing instead of returning to the classroom you ask? Well, I’ve been eyeing up the cutest mini bags and making a wish list of course. Check it out.

Naomi Campbell X The Edit.

Many a great woman has graced the cover of net-a-porter’s online mag, The Edit, and this week is no exception with the mighty and formidable Naomi Campbell adorning the latest issue.

Helping hand: The supermodel, who grew up in the fast-paced world of fashion, was offered valuable advice from Nelson Mandela

The pictures are absolutely striking and really took my breath away. I mean, just look at her – WOW!

Still a super: Naomi Campbell may have broken into the industry nearly thirty years ago but at 44, she's better than ever - and proves it in this glossy shoot for The Edit High fashion: She's worked for every major fashion house but Naomi admits that even she gets nervous before a catwalk appearance

Internationally renowned: Along with Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell is without a doubt one of the fashion industry's most famous faces and at 44, she's still going strong

In this week’s Edit, Campbell dishes on how she still gets nervous before shows, her family in the fashion world (because let’s face it, this woman has connections with just about everyone in the industry – from the late Gianni Versace to Azzedine Alaïa and John Galliano), as well as talking about her charity work.

Survivor: She says that as a Gemini, she likes to keep moving and doing things and being there for friends no matter how hectic her life may get

I know that I do call a lot of women amazing role models on here, but Naomi really is one of the greats and she is truly incredible.

Internationally renowned: Along with Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell is without a doubt one of the fashion industry's most famous faces and at 44, she's still going strong

Wtf Wednesday.

Today has definitely been a ‘what the actual fuck has happened today’ kind of day, with a most apt description being A Series of Unfortunate Events – but I won’t go into that because having to actually live through it was already bad enough. Anyway, what better way to forget about the randomness and stresses of the day, than by sharing a few of my favourite net-a-porter pieces from this week?

Blue Cream Basics.

I live for basics. In fact, you could most readily describe my entire wardrobe as a basics haven. Even when I do dress up to the nines and don my highest heels, there’s always still a sense of simpleness that comes from pairing basic pieces like a white tee, cut off shorts (which I must admit I’ve only recently become OBSESSED with), and striped dresses with canvas sneakers. Today’s picks really emulate my somewhat lazy style with: a striped navy dream from A.P.C., that I just so happen to won a similar design by Jack Wills; a cutesy mini bag in the much sought-after trapeze shape by Michael Kors; and finally the must have denim shorts, courtesy of Victoria Beckham. Check it out below.

Wednesday Night Styling.

So I’m kind of bored right now, but what better way to pass the time than to share some of my favourites from net-a-porter. Today I have quite an extended list, which is good for me because it means I get to spend A LONG time looking at different styling options, and it’s good for you because it means you’ve got more fabulous pieces to ogle at!

Clutch It, Bring It Bag.

For those of you who grew up with an older brother who loved rap music, you’ll understand when I say that those early rap songs are pretty hard to just forget. Now you’re probably wondering what the hell rap noughties rap music has to do with net-a-porter, so let me explain. As I was going through the latest designer duds on net-a-porter this morning, I came across quite a few clothes and bags that I felt deserved their very own post, instead of being lumped together with the clothes (like I usually do). For some strange reason, while I was figuring out what to title this post, the 2006 Busta Rhymes song ‘Touch It’ popped into my head immediately and the rest as they say was history – I had my title. Now for those of you who are unfamiliar with the chorus of the song, it goes a little something like this: “touch it, bring it babe, watch it, turn it, leave it, stop, format it”. Anyway, onto the bags…

Black.

Who doesn’t love an influx of new black duds even now and again, uh? Interesting today’s picks start and finish with Bottega Veneta, who do not disappoint with their cosy cashmere wrap coat and their trademark woven leather bag. Sure Halloween may have happened a few weeks ago, but that doesn’t mean you can’t vamp it up with Dolce & Gabbana’s sexy lace booties, that would look equally cute with a mini dress of leggings. And then finally Michael Kors has something for those of us who just cannot decide: jersey or leather?

Black and Tartan.

Who knew that a simple outfit of black and tartan could look so great?! Carolina works those New York City streets in this lush pairing and she looks GREAT. And don’t her Emerson Fry boots just complete the whole look?

London Loop, Rickshaw Rude-gals and Birthday Banter Pt. 1.

Yesterday Lauran and Beth made the journey from Winchester to Wandsworth for my 21st birthday! And they made sure to come with presents.

After a tour of the house, it was time to get down to business: getting ready, drinking, but most importantly… PHOTOS.

We arrived at Loop Bar and made our way to the bar for tequila shots, before settling down with a few drinks then heading downstairs for a bit of dancing. I’m not going to lie – we were by far the best dressed there!
