Cocktails in Wonderland.

By this point you know that I love dressing casual and sharing my favourite casual pieces. By this point, you also know that I love me some glitter, tulle, frills and all things pink and girly. So when I saw FarFetch’s Christmas season editorial I was ecstatic. There was glitter, embellishments, tulle, ruffles, pink… the list goes on, all in the form of beautiful pieces from designers such as Oscar de la Renta (you know how obsessed I am), Saint Laurent, Valentino and more!

This^^ Oscar dress is by far my favourite. I love the embellishments, I love the tulle, I love the organza, I love the shape, I love the colour – can I just live in it please?

These pieces definitely make you feel as though you’re in wonderland, which is in keeping with their concept. Can’t you just imagine floating up to Christmas dinner in these? Oooh, so dreamy.

What I love the most about the editorial is that it offers a twist to the classic party season pieces that everyone loves. Every piece is whimsical and feminine, but there’s also an element of drama and intrigue, making the looks unique.

Sidebar: doesn’t the model look stunning? The hair and makeup is EVERYTHING in these shots. Ugh she’s so pretty!!

It obviously goes without saying that I want to own every single last piece shown above – I mean what girl wouldn’t? For more, make sure you check out FarFetch.

Wednesday Wish List.

Aaaaaaand it’s back! It’s been such a long time since I shared anything other than music my weekly net-a-porter faves, so I’m happy to be back posting what I love most. Today’s picks include cosy winter necessities like jumper dresses, cute accessories – I mean, who doesn’t need a pearl encrusted headband with a detachable veil?, and my all-time favourite: the LBD.

J.W.A, Marchesa, D&G.

There were WAY too many fabulous pieces to share with you, so I’ve condensed the list down a little bit. J.W.Anderson takes an otherwise ordinary wardrobe staple, and manages to make it look like an architectural moment you’d find in Barcelona or Prague. Marchesa also rocks the house with their floral number, that while I’m still a little iffy on it, I can’t resist staring at it and imagining myself twirling round for days. And finally, D&G stick to their classic ladylike aesthetic, and have lots of fun playing around with black lace. While these pieces may seem a tad wild, there’s a tone of simplicity running through each design, making them even more striking.

Pink.

I’m sure we’re all more than aware that glitter is my favourite colour. However, whenever those really annoying people continue to press me about a “real” favourite colour, I always go with pink – I mean after all, who could hate the colour? Anyway, as you can probably guess, yesterday net-a-porter offered a beautiful assortment of pink picks and here they are. Stella McCartney wowed me twice with her matching coat and dress pink set (FLOTUS perfect or what? I’m thinking Jackie), that could really only be worn with each other unless you have an equally chic pink extra to wear them with. Then RED Valentino (who for today should probably be referred to as PINK Valentino) impressed me with such a cute pink mini dress that I’m looking for a cheaper alternative as we speak I type. Tory Burch rounds off the group with (what I think is my favourite of the lot) a silk jacket, great worn with jeans or a mini skirt, depending on the occasion.

Candy Pieces.

Today’s picks look as though they could easily have come from Dylan’s Candy Bar, and leaves me craving a little sugar for my sweet tooth. Victoria Beckham’s classic leather shopper (which I think definitely has the power to surpass the infamous Birkin given time) appears twice, once in cream and a second time in luminous orange; while her equally stylish tennis dress also makes an appearance in dusty pink. Fendi’s metallic leather flats remind me of a pair I had as a little girl that I really hated at the time, but now looking back I kind of miss them. It’s been a while since a sweater graced the blog, and what better way to reintroduce my coveted wardrobe favourite than with Theory’s super snuggly cashmere offering – I’m in sweater heaven with this baby! Oscar de la Renta, the king of ballroom call never disappoints whenever I’m looking for some candy, and he really didn’t let me down with this cutesy cropped baby jacket that I’d wear over something really simple like a pair of blue jeans and a white tank. Finally we have Gianvito Rossi rounding up the pack with his nude colour pumps, ideal for practically any occasion.

Autumn Shades.

We end the week with some ultra chic classics in nude and burgundy shades that match just perfectly with the autumnal weather going on at the moment. Christian Louboutin certainly knows how to bring a girl to her knees, especially with his “So Kate” pumps that literally have me clawing at my screen trying to reach them. Then Burberry hits the upcoming winter spot with their brown wool pea coat (I’m such a sucker for them), making me excited for kicking brown leaves in the park. Rounding off the list is Equipment and their luxe cashmere sweater that’ll definitely come in handy; and Oscar de la Renta’s FABULOUS feather and crystal embellished number that has me wishing I got invited to cool holiday parties.

I Want That, That and That…

You know those times when you see things and you know in your heart that you just HAVE TO HAVE them (or in my case you know that you just have to add them to you wish list basket)? Well that happened last night when I was going through the latest from net-a-porter. It’s been a long time since such incredible pieces jumped out at me like these beauties did.

DOLCE & GABBANA

This jacket is EVERYTHING. I love the print and the fact that it’s small and so awesome looking. I think everyone needs something like this on call for when they feel like being fabulous.

BALMAIN

Balmain really hit the spot with his hot pink silk mini skirt – that’s actually MINI. This is so up my street I don’t think there’s a phrase I can use to describe my love and admiration for it. As always, Balmain leaves me stunned and in awe of such a fine and wonderful creation.

HAIDER ACKERMANN

Silk is back with a vengeance this week and I am love-love-loving it! These silk baby bubblegum pink cropped pants are IT. I want to buy them and wear them everywhere, even just to walk down to the kitchen for a bowl of cereal, I don’t care where I wear them, I just know that I will.

NINA RICCI

Hmmm, this cape may raise a few eyebrows, in fact it did raise mine but I didn’t care, I added it to my wish list anyway. There’s something so sleek, chic and fantastical about this cape that makes it such a desirable and high fashion piece, even though to simply look at it, you wouldn’t get that immediate feeling. But I feel it, I get it, I have the eye, so I know what Nina was up to with this one.

Silk, Silk, Silk.

There’s something of a silk party going on over at net-a-ports.

ALBERTA FERRETTI

This top is so simple and kind of reminds of a vest I have from Avon with a similar shape. The silver works so well with the black, making it really laidback but very feminine. Only Alberta Ferretti could get that combo just right.

ROLAND MOURET

Okay, so maybe not made out of silk, but you can never have too many LBDs and it always helps to update the collection every once in a while. Mouret’s latest offering features a very sexy zip detail on the back, whilst not going too over the top, by keeping the rest of the dress simple, especially shown by the cutesy cap sleeves.

GUCCI

Top Friday.

I know I should be happy that it’s Friday and finally the weekend, but can’t help feeling a little sad. While I’m happy to be heading back to Winchester on Sunday evening, I’m sad to be leaving home 😦 I’ve had such a fun Christmas break that it’ll feel weird waking up on Monday morning in a different room. On the plus side I’ll be reunited with my best friends, and I can’t exactly be too down. Scandal and Grey’s Anatomy are back so I guess I’ll have something to look forward to next week. In the meantime I’ll leave you with my favourite picks on net-a-porter today.

OSCAR DE LA RENTA

I think I might have featured this skirt in a post, but I can’t be too sure. Oh wells, who cares if I have, I guess it shows just how much I love a bit of gold lamé. There are really only two ways you can wear this gorgeous maxi skirt, either you dress it up or you dress it down. And in The Land of Alice, the only reasonable way to wear this skirt would be to dress it the heck DOWN! Try a cute sweater and high heels so you still feel feminine.

VANESSA BRUNO

Call me Scandal-obsessed, but this blouse could not scream Olivia Pope any louder (if you’re watching this NUMBER ONE fan favourite show, you’ll know what I’m talking about). I love how versatile blouses can be, and this one is no exception. Whether you’re a working woman, going to an interview, or just like to get dressed up like a lady, this blouse works perfectly. Pair with a powerhouse pantsuit or a pair of jeans and you are good to go. Funnily enough I just go one from ASOS the other day and it looks AMAZING.

J. CREW

It’s been a little quiet on the sweater front as of late, but that does not mean my love for the easy wearing garment has faded. Though I’m not usually a big fan of writing across tops, I think I can turn a blind eye for this. The font and colours are very delicate, not to mention kind of cute, and the perfect thing to wear while grabbing lunch with friends.

J.Crew     J.Crew

Styling Suggestion

Mother     Pyrenex     Charlotte Olympia     Maiyet

3.1 PHILLIP LIM

Phillip Lim is on a roll this week, at least in terms of Diamonds and Pebbles (check out his last post here). This print silk tank is beautiful and very exotic looking without going too over the top. I would wear loosely tucked into a skirt for something last minute yet still looking put together. Similar to the blouse above, I got a similar tank from Topshop a while back, which you might remember from here.

3.1 Phillip Lim     3.1 Phillip Lim

Styling Suggestion

Maiyet     Charlotte Olympia     Alexander Wang

JAMES PERSE

This sweater looks like something I’d buy from Jack Wills, and like pretty much everything else on this list, I’m fairly certain I have something like this hiding somewhere among my things. You can’t get any more simple and pared back than with a black terrycloth sweater and maybe a pair of super soft jeans, or perhaps you want to make a little bit of a splash, just add stilettos.

Now that break time is over, it’s back to work for me. Let me know what you think and hope you’ve all had a great week. Check out net-a-porter to see what else is new today!
